Have you ever wondered how to stay really close to God and live in a way that He is pleased with? One of the biggest things we can do is to try with all our hearts to stay pure. That means doing our best to follow God’s Word, make good choices, and keep our hearts clean. That doesn’t mean we’ll never mess up—it just means we’re trying our best to follow God and not let sin take over.
Psalm 119:9-11 (NLT) says, “How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. I have tried hard to find you—don’t let me wander from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Honestly, there’s a lot of stuff out there that can distract us or make us feel like it’s okay to do wrong things. But the more we keep our focus on God and His Word, the easier it is to make better choices. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about trying—and asking God to help us when we’re struggling.
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) says, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” So yeah, it’s not always simple, but staying pure really matters. It’s about wanting to please Him more than any other thing, and He really blesses us when this is our desire. If we want to have a strong relationship with God, we’ve got to protect our hearts. This means that we put good things like pure and lovely thoughts of Him and His promises inside it.
Let’s do our best to guard our hearts and stay pure, because a strong relationship with God is worth more than anything. Let’s keep reading the Bible and talking to our Heavenly Father often. Even if we mess up, we can always go back to Him. That’s what matters most, because He will always accept us and love us no matter what.
