Don’t Forget the One Who Blesses You

A beautiful riverside in the distance with the words, God is Good, written in the foreground.
Deuteronomy 8:11(NLT) says, “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today.”
God spoke these words to the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. They had been through some very difficult years, but God had never stopped taking care of them. He parted the Red Sea so they could escape their enemies. He provided manna from heaven when they needed food. He guided them, protected them, and stayed with them every step of the way.
Now, God was about to bless them with a new home—a land He had promised to give them. But before they entered this new chapter, He told Moses to give them an important reminder: Don’t forget Me and don’t forget the Word that I have given you. This is just as important for us as believers living today.
When we read God’s Word, we may not always be taking it in as much as we think we are. Because of that, we can sometimes make choices that go against God without even realizing it. Other times, we know what God’s Word says, but we choose to ignore it because we think it’s not a big deal. But either way, we are still choosing not to follow what God has told us, and that will lead us down the wrong path.
We can get into a lot of spiritual trouble when we forget God’s Word because it helps guide us and keeps us close to Him. When we stop listening to what God says, we can make choices that are not good for us and give temptation a chance to lead us in the wrong direction. We make choices that pull us away from Him.
That is why we need to be prepared and stay connected to God’s truth. Think of the Bible as part of our armor when we face battles in life. The Bible tells us that God’s Word is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17), and just like a soldier needs armor in a battle, we need God’s truth to help us stand strong against our greatest enemy.
In conclusion, following and remembering God’s Word is what helps us stay strong in a world where sin and temptation is all around us. It won’t always be easy, but choosing God’s way shows that we are serious about our relationship with Him. Keep reading His Word, listening to His guidance, and trusting Him, because He will help you through every battle you face.
