As kids, let’s admit it—rules aren’t exactly our favorite thing. When our parents tell us "no" or set boundaries, we don’t always listen. But even when we break the rules, they still love us. They may get upset or give us consequences, but they don’t stop loving us. They’re patient with us because they care and want us to grow. Now here’s the awesome thing about our Heavenly Father—He is even more patient than our parents. And that’s so amazing!
When you look in the Bible, God showed a lot of patience. One example is when He used Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. Those people disobeyed so many times—they complained, built idols, and forgot about God even after He rescued them. But did God give up on them? No. He kept showing love and patience.
There’s a verse in 1 Timothy 1:16 (NLT) that shows this perfectly: “But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.”This verse is saying that if God can be patient with someone like the Apostle Paul, who really messed up, then He can be patient with anyone. That includes us!
God doesn’t just show patience because He has to—He does it out of His unlimited and unconditional love for us. He wants us to learn from Him and show that same patience to others. If we can be patient with people who annoy us or don’t get things right, we’re showing them a little glimpse of what God is like. And here’s another great reminder in 2 Peter 3:15 (NLT): “And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved.”God’s patience isn’t just for us to feel better—it’s so more people have the chance to know Him and follow Him. He’s not in a rush to give up on anyone.
So to wrap it all up, God is super patient. He waits for us, even when we mess up or walk away from Him. He never gives up on us. So, don’t ever think God’s done with you—because He’s always waiting, arms open wide. And He wants us to show that same kind of love and patience to the people around us.
