Speaking God’s promises over your life every day is more important than you might think. Many people don’t realize just how much their words can shape their thoughts, feelings, and even their future. Saying things like, “I am blessed, and I am loved by God,” can help you think the way God wants you to think. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21, (NLT): “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” This means that the words we speak can either bring good things into our lives or cause harm. That’s why it’s so important to speak words that agree with what God says about us!
In Deuteronomy 28:13, (NLT), God told His people, “If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.” This is a great blessing that He gave them. Colossians 2:10, (NLT) tells us: “And you are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” This is awesome too! No matter what happens, God’s Word assures us that we are victorious and whole in Him.
“I am the head and not the tail, I am above only and not beneath,” and “I am completely complete in Jesus Christ” are some of the affirmations I remind myself to say throughout the day, especially when things aren’t going like I hope. Speaking these truths helps me remember who I am in Christ. They keep me from letting negative thoughts take over.
Ephesians 4:29 (NLT) says, “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” This reminds us that we should only speak affirmations that are in line with God’s truth. This will really be a blessing to our lives. So, in conclusion, remember that it’s a very great practice to speak God’s Word of life into your existence by saying what He says about you. When you do this, you are speaking goodness into your life and aligning your faith with His wonderful plans for you!
