Should Christians Follow Astrology?

 Leviticus 19:26 (NIV) says, “‘Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it. “‘Do not practice divination or seek omens.”

Nowadays, people everywhere talk about zodiac signs, crystals, the moon, the stars, and things like that. Even a lot of Christians I have met talk about these things. But many people don’t seem to realize that God warns us not to look to these things for guidance.

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 (NIV) says, “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.”

These verses show us that God doesn’t want His people practicing divination or looking for answers that are apart from Him. Even if something seems harmless or everyone else is doing it, that doesn’t make it right. God wants us to go to Him for wisdom instead of looking to the stars, crystals, or anything else.

Sometimes people say things like, “I’m a Gemini, so that’s just how I am,” or, “My zodiac sign explains my personality.” But our identity shouldn’t come from a zodiac sign. As Christians, our identity should come from Jesus Christ. He is the One who tells us who we are.

In the end, we should stay away from astrology because God tells us not to seek guidance through demonic practices like divination and omens. When we put our trust in those things instead of putting our trust in our Heavenly Father, they can pull our hearts away from Him. God wants us to seek Him first because He is the true Source of wisdom and truth.
